We are a Porto DMC that tours the busy capital city of northern Portugal.
Porto is the second most important city in Portugal behind Lisbon. Declared a World Heritage Site in 1996, Porto has one of the oldest city centres in Europe. The name of the city relates to its port on Douro River, which separates the city of Porto from the town Vila Nova de Gaia. Visitors love the famous Porto Wine Cellars in Vila Nova, where they can tour the cellars. Furthermore, people often visit the colorful Ribeira Quarter on the riverside.
Porto contains a variety of activities and sites. The historical Sé (cathedral), São Francisco Church and the Stock Exchange Palace attract visitors. In addition, tourists like modern sites such as Serralves Foundation and Casa da Música. To complete Porto, walk along Rua da Santa Caterina, stop at Bolhao Market, or take a mini-cruise on Douro River to admire the beautiful bridges.
Visitors can make Porto their sole destination in Portugal or can combine it with Aveiro, Braga and Guimarães. Also, its proximity to Spain allows for trip combinations. For example, you can combine Porto with Galicia or Castile. In fact, Douro River is the natural connection between Castile in mainland Spain and Porto, almost in the Atlantic, and Douro boat trips still connect the two regions! In any case, a tour of Portugal should definitely include Porto.
We as a Porto DMC are very experienced in touring Porto and its neighboring cities. Browse our Programs and get inspired to create yours!
